Chinese and Western Approaches to Military Ethics

Together with the Confucius Institute at the University of Edinburgh, the Relwar Project is co-hosting a conference and workshop, Chinese and Western Approaches to Military Ethics, bringing together 18 distinguished speakers from civilian universities and military academies from China, the USA and the UK. The Project is grateful to the Confucius Institute staff for their sterling support, and to the British Army in Scotland for hospitality at Edinburgh Castle.

The event builds upon a dialogue developed at Hong Kong Baptist University, and the Project thanks Professor P.C. Lo for his active support in the course of preparations for this event.

The event begins with a public conference on October 31: for more information, see http://www.confuciusinstitute.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/PublicDayProgv1.pdf.

In the run-up to the conference, some preparatory research was conducted on related themes by an exceptionally bright young researcher, John Choo, who has prepared an interesting blogpost, ‘Unique Terminology in Chinese Political and Military Ethics’.
